Do you make decisions easily or do you overthink everything?
I am the greatest procrastinator. I have to think everything over so carefully that by the time I am done I have missed the opportunity more often than not. Or I have decided that it’s too hard and not for me altogether.
In an attempt to regain my spontaneity in the last couple of weeks I have been jumping at every opportunity that comes my way and speaks to me on some level (as long as it doesn’t cost thousands of dollars). Without thinking. Without outlining the pros and cons. Without even researching it. Here is what I have gotten up to:
1) I bought two books only because other bloggers recommended them (and it was my very first visit to one of those blogs). Now this may not seem like a very hard decision to you, but I am usually very selective with books I read and buy. Because my time is so limited, I find it very disappointing to get to the middle of the book and then realise that I didn’t want to read this book in the first place. (More on the books I bought will come later, they deserve a separate post. Or a dozen of posts.)
2) I applied for a home-based job. I wasn’t even looking for a job and never mind that I am already struggling to find 10 hours a week for my current contract work. But after reading the ad I knew immediately that it was a job for me. The practicalities? I can work on that later.
3) I signed up for a Creativity Boot Camp (yes, another attempt to fit more into the time that I don’t have). I know nothing about this training, except that Jamie from Lyrical Journey is a special guest at this event and I love where her creativity is taking her.
If you want to join me at the boot camp, Jamie is giving you the chance to win a spot. But you have to act fast, this giveaway is closing tomorrow. So please head over to Lyrical Journey to enter and remember to say ‘hi’ for me!

Linking to It’s All About Me. Sorry, if you are coming through that linky, it will be too late to enter Jamie’s giveaway. But it’s not too late to join the Creativity Boot Camp.

Well done!
I think sometimes we must take a leap of faith in life…even if in baby steps

I agree that sometimes you need to leap and think about the practicalities later. I’m not good at it, mind, but I agree that it needs to happen.

Well done you! I too am a waffler – I struggle to be decisive. Enjoy the boot camp, sounds really good fun.

Good for you for jumping at the chance
I tend to do a little of both…..most of the time I just “do” & hope for no regrets later
Thanks for spreading the word – I promise you’ll be glad you jumped on board.
I was thinking about this topic over the weekend – decision making. I realized that I have a habit of making major live changing decisions quickly and easily (moving, taking a new job, buying a house) but the more ordinary decisions (what color to paint a room) seem to take me forever. I’m now trying to figure out why I struggle to trust my instincts when the truth is they very rarely lead me astray.

Inspiring !
I like your point about applying for the home-based job. Apply then figure out the practicalities later. Gotta be in it, to win it…as they often say.

Good for you Tat! I hope you are getting good results from taking on these new challenges. There is no better feeling than doing something you didn’t think you could. Looking forward to your book reviews x

This is a timely post! I just had a job offer (I wasn’t looking) and literally made myself sick, deciding to take it or not. It consumed me.
I need to work on this!
Good for you leaping in! I overthink a lot of things too, and often ‘try’ to be more spontaneous! I do think it’s getting easier with time – and more natural too!
