Grateful for outdoor classrooms

School

School has been a recurring theme for me lately. Who would have thought? Just a couple of months ago I thought that starting school was such a non-event and everyone was making too big a deal out of it.

As you can imagine, we’ve been playing schools a lot. You may be already bored playing schools, but I’m grateful because it is one of the two ways I can get my son to tell me what is going on at school. The other way is talking for hours at night before instead of going to sleep. I prefer playing.

And we’ve been taking the school outside (more fun for everyone)!

Grateful

Multiplication

In case you are wondering, no, they are not doing multiplication in week 3 at kindy. Someone gave us these flash cards and Big Boy was keen to get started. We were using sticks at first, but after the neighbour’s dog kept on stealing them and we kept on getting the wrong answer we switched to leaves.

What are you grateful for this week?

What games have you played outside?

What great ideas for making learning happen everywhere. And it looks like fun, too! On behalf of teachers everywhere, thank you for supporting your son’s education at home—it makes a HUGE difference. :)

School is such a big milestone isn’t it. They (and we I guess) need time to process it and it looks like you have found a great way to do that.

I’m visiting from the grateful linkup.
