Grateful for books, local libraries and another rainy day

I remember my husband asking me once, ‘Would you want to live 200 years?’
‘Of course, imagine all the books you could read in that time’, was the first answer that came out of my mouth.

A few months ago I wanted to make myself a Christmas present and put a big order through Amazon.com. I happily picked my books, then picked some more… until I looked at the postage price. Mmm, no.

I checked my wish list against the library catalogues of the two local libraries I was a member of. Between the two libraries I got about three quarters of my wish list. How lucky that I checked before I paid for the order! I’m still going through those books.

This week I discovered that one of my local libraries had increased the allowed renewals from 2 to 3. For someone like me who always borrows too many books and has no time to read them, that’s three extra weeks! Definitely something to be grateful for.

And finally, I’m grateful for another rainy day. The kids are off to a dental checkup and I’m at home with my book and my cup of tea. Double comfort ( as Kimmie from Art in the Red Wagon would say).

What are you grateful for this week?

Ah yes. Gotta love books. It’s great to see people still reading them in all their real-life-paper-glory. As an author I am grateful for people like you :)
    Nice to meet you!

There’s nothing like a rainy day, to catch up on some reading! (although I needed to cut my grass today – that’s now not gonna happen!)

Oh yes…gotta love books!! My list of books to read is always growing longer and longer. I recently set myself a challenge to read fifty pages very day. Sure helps power through some books!! Also fishpond.com is a great online book store with free shipping always xx

I haven’t had a good run with Fishpond lately. One of the books took ages to arrive and I was well and truly over it by that time. The other one – I got sick right after I ordered it, so now I feel sick every time I look at the book. I’ve got two books that I don’t want to read anymore…

I’m a book lover too! Can’t get enough of them – although also can’t get quite enough time to read them at the moment! x

I could spend hundreds of dollars on books! But thankfully I get many of my books from thrift shops or second-hand bookshops, or the library. Thank goodness for libraries! xx

Love this post – you should check out The Book Depository – free Shipping!!! I love to read but struggle to find the time. Lately they have been “improvement” books. Try The Book Thief. Loved it.

Amazon’s postage is a shocker, isn’t it. Libraries are good but it you really need to have your own personal copy, hubby got me onto booko.com where I can compare the prices of a book and decide where is best to buy. I ende duo buying books about siblings for Miss T from the UK book depository after researching booko. Postage was either low or free. All that aside, I just wish I had time to read a book amongst all the other thing I try to do!

Even with the postage Amazon is cheaper than most other shops, but… once they break it down for you it’s a bit of a shock. I haven’t heard of booko, I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!

We LOVE the library. We go once a week now. If there’s a book I really enjoy that I want to keep, then I’ll go through Book Depository and get it. Otherwise, it’s library all the way for us!
