Grateful for curiosity

Before I had kids I was interested in certain things and I wanted to know nothing about many othes.

But kids ask the most fascinating questions.

“How do they make glass?”

“What makes a car break if it hasn’t been in a crash?”

“What makes the wind blow?’

Carried by the wind

More and more I find myself curious – what are the detailed answers, not the ones any adult can give?

As I was lying in bed one night, I caught myself thinking, “It would be interesting to compare the chemical formula of sugar to that of stevia and figure out exactly where the sweetness comes from.” Chemical formula? Last time I’ve seen one and it meant anything to me was at school, a very long time ago. I wouldn’t have a clue how to even begin figuring it out! (What keeps you awake at night?)

I’m grateful that my children have guided me to that curiosity again, the desire to know things, all kind of things, for no practical reason.

The world is such an interesting place…

I’m thinking about that chemical equation now! I do love kids’ curiosity – something to nurture most definitely x

I think curiosity is one of our greatest gifts. Curious people make great writers, great frieds, great dinner-party guests – they always want to know something and have something interesting to say. I’m extremely grateful for curiosity – it keeps you young x

Kids have got the right idea, Tat. We should all be leading a curious life and it’s shouldn’t just be the kids who ask the daunting questions!

Let us know about that stevia compound, won’t you!?

Oh yes, I love it when my kids ask me something interesting I’d never thought to question, and then we can go and look for the answers together.

My daughter always leaves me stumped with her questions. I look up the answers, and then get back to her.
Yes, curiosity keeps us on our toes, and fires up our brain cells…

I’ve yet to be inundated with those type of questions but I’ve always been the curious type. If something piques my curiosity, I’m onto Google doing searches till I feel satisfied with the information I’ve gleaned. I don’t remember what I did before Google!

Hi, I'm Tat. I believe that through motherhood we're given another chance to find ourselves, grow and shine. I have three beautiful children and I learn a lot from them every day. This year I'm searching for ease in everything I do.More about me and my blog »
